New Delhi: Attacks on Christian institution in the national capital seem to continue in a regular pattern.

A secondary school managed by Salesian Sisters in southwest Delhi was vandalized Friday morning, a day before a new government is scheduled to take office.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s chief minister designate, condemned the attacks. “These kind of acts will not be tolerated,” he wrote in a tweet. Kejriwal is set to be sworn in as Delhi’s new chief minister on Saturday.

Sister Lucy John, principal of Holy Child Auxilium School on Poorvi Marg in Vasant Vihar area, said miscreants tried to rob her school.

Father Savarimuthu Sankar, spokesperson of the Delhi archdiocese, told Matters India that the attackers first destroyed the CCTV cameras, entered the principal’s office and ransacked the room.

He said attempts are being made to see if the cameras had managed to capture any footage of the miscreants before they were destroyed.

The school has been closed for the day, after the incident came to light.

Church officials said the students were sent back home avoid any panic and chaos. They have also reported the matter to the police, who are now investigating, the principal told Matters India.

Church people suspect two men entered the school premises and destroyed the CCTV and then proceeded to ransack the principal’s office. No one has been injured in the incident.

This is the sixth case of attack on Catholic institutions in the past two and a half months.

Ten days ago, St Alphonsa Church in Vasant Kunj, which is close to the Auxilium school, was vandalized.

The attacks began December 1, 2014 with the torching of St Sebastian’s Church in Dilshad Garden.
