Indore: An Indore-based student movement has launched a magazine to guide the young people in India.

Titled “Youth Action,” the magazine carries inspiring life stories and enlightening articles.

Shravan Garg, a senior journalist and editor of the Free Press daily, who released the first issue of the youth magazine Saturday, hailed it as “a laudable and challenging endeavor” to guide the youth of the nation.

The Universal Solidarity Movement of Value Education for Peace (USM), Indore, manages the magazine.

The first issue of the ‘Youth Action’ was released at a function organized at USM Indore on the eve of International Women’s Day. ‘Women Power’ is highlighted in the first issue with the cover story on the youth icon Leema Dhar, author of six books with three national best sellers at the age of 21.

Dr Jacob Kani, Editor-in-Chief of “‘Youth Action,” said it was an attempt to reach out to the students and the youth of the nation for value education and enlightened leadership.

Bearing in mind the dictum, “Light a candle instead of cursing darkness”, USM has come out with the lighted candle of ‘Youth Action’ for the students and youth to illumine their minds, hearts and paths of life with knowledge, wisdom, values and strength. Though designed as a youth magazine, ‘Youth Action’ is also meant for all those who are part of the life and growth of the young people, namely parents, teachers, mentors, counselors and policy makers.

The 100-page magazine printed in color is in English and a bi-monthly to start with. Later it is intended to be a monthly magazine.

Among those present were Bishop Chacko Thottumarikal of Indore and several prominent citizens of Indore.
