Patna: Young women looking forward to studying in Patna’s prestigious Jesuit colleges can now stop worrying about their accommodation.

Jesuit Archbishop William D’Souza of Patna Friday blessed a hostel that can accommodate some 100 residents in the Bihar state capital of Patna.

The hostel is meant for female students of St. Xavier’s College of Education, St. Xavier’s College, and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology all situated within a radius of 3 kilometers on the Patna-Danapur Road.

It is a joint effort of the Jesuits’ Patna province and the Holy Cross Sisters North-East province.

Archbishop D’Souza, while presiding over the blessing ritual, prayed for the safety and security of the hostel residents.

The hostel will be under the care of the Holy Cross nuns, who have long years of experience in managing women’s boarding centers. The hostel is close to Asha Deep (light of hope), a school they manage for specially challenged children.

Jesuit Fathers Thomas Perumalil, principal of St. Xavier’s College of Education, and Thomas Nishaant, principal of both St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology were present on the occasion along with Holy Cross North-East provincial Sr. Valsa Thottiyil.

Patna is comparatively safer for women, according some NGOs.
