Kathmandu — The individual initiative of one of the students of Don Bosco School Kathmandu made a difference to a few families in her village affected by the devastating earthquake that shattered everything in their life.

One of the students who joined Don Bosco School relief teams did bit of a survey in her locality and found out that three families had not eaten for a few days and that they did not get any help from any of the NGOs or local relief groups either.

So she took the initiative and did something for them on her own.

She came to the school and told her friends and school authorities about the plight of those unfortunate people in the village.

Immediately the Nepal Don Bosco Society (NDBS) relief team willingly gave a helping hand to the initiative that came from the student.

“In fact when we reached the village we found that those families had lost everything and were genuinely in need of help,” says Assistant Principal of Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Thecho Salesian Fr Savio Rai who went with relief materials.

Fr Rai says, “they were so happy that they exclaimed, ‘you are really God-sent people.’”

The student was so happy that she said, “I love to help people and I will continue to look out for those who are really in need of help.”

Fr Rai adds, “the personal initiative of a sensitive student made a difference to a few families.”

As this report is being filed, two more quakes measuring 7.4 and 6.9 lasting about 58 seconds hit Kathmandu and its surrounding regions around 1.00 pm Nepal time, today 12 May.
