Ten people, including two children, were killed and six others injured when lightning struck at different places in Madhya Pradesh during the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.

Six persons were killed and four sustained injuries in four incidents of lightning on Saturday at Amarwara, Sausar, Bicchua and Parasia areas in Chhindwara.

The victims were identified as Munshilal Sirkam (27), Mahoto Bai Yadav (40), Rajesh Yadav (28), Sunita Dharia (50), Ramnath Bange (18) and Shyam Rao (30), Additional Superintendent Police Rajesh Tripathi said.

In another incident, Javanti Kumre (12) and her brother Santosh Kumre (10) were killed and two other minors sustained burn injuries when lightning struck them at Lutmara village in Seoni, Ghansour a police officer said.

Besides, one Shanker Bai (45) was killed at Jobat in Alirajpur, a police officer said. In Harda, lightning killed farmer Ramdayal Jadam (50), a revenue department officer said. – PTI
