Murshidabad: Eight persons were killed Tuesday after lightning struck at different places in Murshidabad district of West Bengal state.

Rains and thunder storm have lashed the district for the past couple of days.

Two persons died at Musurdanga village and one in Baruipada village, a senior police officer told press persons.

Two other persons died in Budaspada village and a 10­year­old girl died in Kapasdanga village, he said.

Two more persons, including a woman, died in Kayagram village. Most victims were working at the fields when they were struck by lightning.
