Lucknow: Christmas dance pageants in Lucknow, capital of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, this year will highlight social causes.

A dance drama at St. Joseph’s Cathedral Church on December 25 will serve as the medium to raise awareness about women empowerment.

A plea to help Chennai flood victims will also be made through a skit performed by the dance group of the church, The Times of India reported.

Christmas celebrations and events at the Assembly of Believers’ Church, Aliganj, will highlight the cause of save and green environment. Morris Kumar, priest of the church, said, “Apart from narrating Christmas tales and reciting the glory of God, we will also appeal to people to save the environment through our dance drama skit.”

Celebrations will begin from December 13 with cantatas, candle light services, carol recitations and gift-giving organized in various churches. Singing competitions and cultural events are also planned as part of Christmas festivities.

With just a fortnight left to Christmas, people have also started organizing Christmas tree-decoration and cake-making get-together at their houses.
