Imphal: Manipur’s youth activist Kanarjit Kangujam, 25, has bagged the Commonwealth Young Leader Award 2016 instituted by the ESHO International Fellowship.

In his letter, the fellowship team leader Rubangakene Kenneth said the award was given “in recognition of his outstanding selfless service to empower youths of the world, especially for the Commonwealth nations.”?

The Uganda-based Educational Support and Health Organisation (ESHO) is organising the ESHO International Fellowship, 2016, a six-day intensive training on three key thematic areas of civic leadership and engagement, business and entrepreneurship, public management and professional communication etiquette.

The programme will be held from May 15 in Gulu, a northern Ugandan city. Youths from different parts of the world will participate.

More than 50 young emerging leaders between the age of 20 and 30 years from Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia and the US have been invited to Uganda for the programme, reported The Telegraph .

The award ceremony will be held during the training programme. The award comprises a cash prize of $10,000, a trophy and a certificate.

Kangujam is currently is working as a member of the advisory board of the Youth School of Social Entrepreneurs, Dhaka, and secretary general of Club25 International Manipur. He is also associated with various other international organisations.

He is also the man behind the Global Youth Meets and World Youth Summit, which were held in Imphal sometimes ago. The summit gave a platform to youths of the world to exchange views and discuss common issues of the world. Kangujam has received a number of awards and recognitions like Pride of India 2015, Dr B.R. Ambedkar National Award, 2014, and Global Youth Award, 2014, among others.

After donating blood 26 times, on August 13, Organ Donation Day, 2015, he pledged to donate his cornea, kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, pancreas to Dr Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, Mumbai.

He also led a team from Manipur to Nepal to provide humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake.
