Mokama: The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth has opened Bihar’s first wellness center at its first medical facility in India.

Jesuit Archbishop William D’Souza of Patna on April 20 opened the “Wellness Centre” that offers altenative therapies for a healthy way of life. r

The prelate hailed the center as “a hope and a scope for wellness and wholeness for persons who are stressed and overburdened in the fast moving world.”

The archbishop also congratulated the hospital for responding to the needs of society since its establishment.

It is at Nazareth Hospital Mokama, some 60 km southeast of Patna, the state capital.

Special guest of honor was Bhavna Shekhar, an author and poet, cut the ribbon to officially open the center.

Sekhar, a senior faculty member of Notre Dame, Patna, commended the Nazareth Hospital for starting an adventurous project to help those seeking total healing and wellbeing. She termed the center as “the need of the time.”

Naturopathy specialist Mandal Sarju stressed the need for returning to the nature to rejuvenate oneself. As a new vehicle is serviced after certain mileage, the humans have to get back into nature to be in harmony with their whole system, he added.

Nazareth congregation’s Patna provincial Sister Basanti Lakra, said the hospital moved into the new venture to meet the need of the time.

The modern well equipped center provides yoga, aromatic herbal massages, hydrotherapy, mud therapy, diet counselling, wash outs, spine and joint pain care.

Duration and charges of the treatment are decided after consultation with the physician and depends on the nature of ailments.

The center has general wards and private rooms to cater to different categories of people.

It also offers a package for relax-holiday program to improve general health. One week program meant for executives, professionals and tourists includes dieting, yoga, meditation, massage, steam bath, sun bath, mud bath, and other services. The center also arranges sightseeing trips on request.
