Ever since one of my sisters told me that she likes to pray “Soul of Christ” each day after communion, I too took a liking towards this prayer. And I find it very soothing and comforting.

It is for the first time that I find a complete book based on this prayer. The book not only helps the reader to reflect on this prayer, but also leads one to have a closer communion with Jesus through a daily hour of adoration before him.

The author shares how the prayer has helped over the years “to nurture and foster my personal relationship with Christ—a relationship that is close, personal, and spiritually intimate, and that transforms me and my relationships with others.”

Even when I’m suffering through a dry spell in my prayer, the “Soul of Christ” provides a personal connection and an “easy” in: to my daily encounter with Jesus,” the author tells the reader.

When we pray this prayer we respond to the deep longing of the soul of Jesus, the author goes on to explain. And she does it so through a story: “ Though my father passed away over ten years ago, I still miss the way he used to look at me. When I would arrive home for a visit or right before I would leave, my dad usually did not say anything, but his eyes would fill with deep emotion, and he would just gaze at me. I would feel so love, so at home, so connected with him. I think that in those timeless moments, I glimpsed my dad’s soul, his very presence: the fruitful love for his family that had come to define him, his deep-down goodness, and the way that his love shaped me into who I am.”

Jesus looks at each of us with such gaze of love, but it is an infinitely greater love, she says.

As she leads the reader through a mediation on this timeless prayer she is also helping one to spend an intimate hour with the Eucharistic Lord.

For this she uses the method –Jesus, Way, Truth, Life –presented by Blessed James Alberione, the Founder of the Pauline Family.
In the first movement of the Pauline Adoration, Adoring Jesus the Truth, one is invited to pray with the word of God.
The second movement, Following Jesus the Way, gives one the opportunity to reflect on ones spiritual journey in the light of the scripture passage: the ways that God is at work in our life.

In Union with Jesus is the third movement. It is a time for prayer of union with Christ our Life. This is a time for prayer of the .heart, when one can converse with Jesus can speak heart-to-heart about one’s desires and needs of the world.

Throughout the pages this book the reader will find the foundation of the Soul of Christ prayer is woven as a recurring theme.
The author hopes that these meditations on this powerful prayer guide, each one towards the embrace of Christ’s unfathomable love, so that we live Eucharistic lives. If we each can become little eucharists,
Christ can work through us to transform the world with his amazing love.
A helpful book for all those who want to grow in Christ.
