The Orthodox Theological Seminary hosted a delegation of the Assyrian Church of the East on 25 July 2016. It also comprised of the Bishops of the Chaldean church in India. His Eminence Mar Awa Royel, Secretary of the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Assyrian Church of the East and the bishop of the diocese of California led the delegation. H.E. also serves as the Ecumenical Officer of the Church.
His team included Mar Yohan Yosef, Bishop of India, Mar Narsai Benjamin, Bishop of Iran, Mar Paulus Benjamin, Bishop of Chicago, Mar Awgin Kuriakose, Auxiliary Bishop of India and Fr. Aphrem Al Khoury from Baghdad.
Their Eminences visited and graciously consented to interact with the seminary fraternity. They shared their experiences of Christian witness in their part of world. H. E. Mar Awa Royel acknowledged the common ancestry and heritage of both the churches. Fr. Dr. B. Varghese reflected upon the long Assyrian history and the heritage of the East Syrian Church ,while acknowledging how significant the visit of the delegates is to seminary community.
