Former atheist Lee Strobel’s book, “The Case for Christ,” which chronicles his journey to Christianity, will come to life in a movie of the same title which is set to hit theaters in US in spring 2017.

“The Case for Christ” will tell the story of Strobel, who used his skills in investigative journalism to debunk Christianity. However, his findings in his investigation led him to believe in Jesus Christ instead of disproving the faith, The Christian Post details.

Earlier this month, Strobel told the Post in an interview how much he hated his wife Leslie’s conversion to Christianity. Her decision had almost led them to a divorce, but Christ’s love helped them through those rough times.

“It wasn’t until my wife met a woman in the same condominium building who was a Christian and they became friends that she ultimately came to faith in Christ and told me that she had become a Christian, which my initial reaction was to divorce her,” Strobel told the Post in an interview. “I didn’t want to be married to a Christian, and I thought she was going to turn into some ‘Holy Roller’ or something.”

During those times, Strobel felt that God and heaven were only concepts created by people who were afraid of death. He admitted that he was hostile toward Christianity and its followers, but the positive changes that he saw in his wife after her conversion impacted him so much that he was prompted to study the Bible.

Based on the synopsis for “The Case for Christ,” Strobel’s marriage with his wife was tested when she became a Christian and her faith clashed with his atheism. He later ended his research with the conclusion that it takes more faith to become an atheist than to be a Christian because there is so much proof that Jesus Christ lived, died, and was resurrected.

“The Case for Christ” will debut in U.S. theaters in the spring of 2017.
