Thrissur, Kerala: Sr. Chinnamma Kunnakkat has been elected the new superior general for Society of Nirmala Dasi Sisters (SNDS). Sr. Elsy Illickal will be the Vice General of the congregation. The election took place at the Nirmala Generalate in Mulayam, in Thrissur district, Kerala.
Society of Nirmala Dasi Sisters (SNDS) is a small religious community, which was founded by late Bishop Joseph Kundukulam , first Archbishop of Thrissur, Kerala, in 1971.
The community started their work at St. Christina’s Home,Pullazhy- a home for unwed mothers and their children . Pullazhy is a small village 6 kilometers west of Thrissur town.
The Society was raised to Major Archiepiscopal Status by Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil on Dec. 8, 2006. The society aims to serve the abandoned section of the society, the sick and the destitute without any discrimination of caste creed language or religion.
