Guwahati: A short film made by the students of NPS International School, Guwahati on two of their differently-abled friends, has been nominated for an award in the London Film Festival 2016.
‘Hope’ is the only documentary film from India to be nominated for the lists of final selection of awards in the entire film festival, a NPS release said.
The documentary film has already been selected for screening at Sunlight International film festival, Germany, 5th Mumbai Shorts International film festival-16, International New York film festival and at the 2nd National Children’s film festival, 2016 in Jaipur so far, The Northeast Today reported.
‘Hope’ has been selected among four movies in the best student documentary short category of the London film festival. The other three documentaries which are in the fray are Rangers of the Reef by Brady Valashinas of United States, Jack Panna by Latham Wright of United Kingdom and Fighting Against the Stream by Takho Lee of South Korea.
‘Hope’ is a story on how the management of NPS International School, Guwahati managed to bring joy to two differently-abled students, Amit and Madhurjya, and their family members as both of them cleared their CBSE Class XII Examinations, 2016 with flying colours. Amit, who wants to be an IAS Officer, is physically dysfunctional and Madhurjya, who wants to be an Engineer, is deaf and dumb. He can do leap reading only.
