Kochi, Kerala: The new Archbishop of Varappuzha, Joseph Kalathiparambil, will be installed on Sunday in ceremonies to be led by his predecessor Francis Kallarakkal. The installation ceremonies will begin at the Vallarpadam Our Lady of Ransom Basilica at 4 p.m., says a statement issued by the Archdiocese here on Thursday.

The Archbishop designate and other dignitaries will be given a reception at 3.30 p.m. He will reach the venue accompanied by a hundred children. Cardinal George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, will be among those participating in the ceremonies.

Archbishop Kalathiparampil was born near Vaduthala in the city in October, 1952, and joined the minor seminary at the age of 13. He was ordained a priest in March 1978 and became chancellor of the Archdiocese in 1989. He was appointed vicar-general of the Archdiocese in 1996. He was appointed the Bishop of Kozhikode by Pope John Paul II in April 2002.
