This One’s for You

By: C.M. Paul

“What are we without stories? What are we without aspirations? Without stories, it’s a life spent to attend its vague purpose. My purpose in life was to speak. I knew I wasn’t good in literature still I had many thoughts; many stories to tell but had no words to convey. I decided not to give up,” says Kate Sarah author of the book This One’s For You.

In a mood for confession, Kate continues, “The journey was not smooth and it will never be but it is true that sometimes our imagination is more powerful than words. The stories inside me wanted to come out. It wasn’t me, it was the stories those wanted to be heard, read and understood.”
Kate who studied English literature at Salesian College Siliguri credits friends and family who pushed her to pursue her dream of publishing her own 104 page book.

There are 15 stories in the book “This One’s for You”. Each story is a stand alone incorporating elements which are to a certain extent imitate the spirit of ‘Saki’ in humour, ‘Guy de Maupassant’ in resonance and ‘O’ Henry’ in its trick ending style.

“Awesome writing skills and great imagination. I liked all the stories. It’s full of entertainment, emotions and inspirations,” says one satisfied reader commenting on Flipkart.

In her writing style author Kate seems to be influenced / inspired by the writing style of Ruskin Bond an Indian author of British descent considered to be an icon among Indian writers and children’s authors and a top novelist.

In a bid to share her writing secret Kate says, “I believe we all have our stories to share. I meet people and listen to their stories.”Currently a teacher at Immanuel International Academy at Ranidanga in Siliguri, Kate gets into a philosophical groove and adds, “Stories never die and we become immortal through these tales. Yes, the purpose of mankind is to be immortal, to be remembered even after decay. No difference, I also would want to be loved and remembered even when as dust I will be mingled with earth.”

“This One’s for you” was published by Power Publishers Kolkata and is available on Flipkart, Snapdeal, Infibeam, Purushotam books and Readwhere.com.
