Kabul: Afghan officials say a twin suicide bombing in the capital Kabul on January 10 killed at least 30 people and wounded more than 80 others.
A female Member of Parliament was among the wounded, agencies reported.
A suicide bomber blew up in the Darul Aman area of the city near the new Indian-financed parliament building. The second blast was also reported in the same area.
Eyewitnesses have reportedly seen a number of bodies in the area. Some Members of Parliament said their colleague, a women, representing Herat was among the injured, TOLO News reported.
Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack and said target had been a mini bus carrying government staff.
A security source admitted casualties and added the attackers had targeted employees of parliament.
News agency ANI reported that the first explosion happened close to the American University on Darulaman road.
There was no immediate word on casualties from the attack, which follows a period of relative calm in Kabul.
Afghanistan’s interior ministry also said it feared casualties.
At least one of the blasts was apparently caused by a car bomb, ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said.
The attack occurred in a crowded area during the afternoon rush hour as workers were returning home.
Earlier on Tuesday, a suicide bomber killed seven people and wounded nine when he detonated his explosives in a house in the southern province of Helmand used by an NDS unit.
Eyewitnesses indicate that the number of dead and wounded in the twin blasts could be as high as 50, TOLO News reported.
