New Delhi: The message of the Gospel should permeate in every activity of the Church and it should be proclaimed as a paramount action, says a top official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI).

“Jesus is the center of our communication and he takes control of our activity. All our knowledge, expertise and service should be at the service of Jesus and the people, we serve,” said CBCI secretary general Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas on Feb 17 while celebrating the opening Mass of seminar on communication at CBCI Center in New Delhi.

The 56-year-old prelate, a member of the Pilar society, asserted that everything done in the Church is geared to bring glory to God. “The services we render to people of God and the poor need to be communicated effectively, instead of self-glory,” he told office bearers, secretaries of CBCI offices and councils and deputy secretaries of the Regional Bishops’ Councils.

The February 17-18 seminar, jointly organized by CBCI and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), aims to update skills of those engaged in communication ministry in the Indian Church.

CRS is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States.

Jennifer Hardy, an expert from CRS Communication team, is the key resource person.

The seminar “going to be an important and enriching session on communications for church personnel,” Bishop Mascarenhas told the paricipants.
