Production house Dharma Production’s BADRINATH KI DULHANIA, follow up to the successful rom-com drama, HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA, warrants huge expectations from the makers, both commercially and musically as well, keeping in mind the memorable audio of the former (‘Samjhawan’ is a hit at most singing reality shows). So let’s check out what the young guns have to offer.

Amaal Malik’s full of masti and dhamaal chartbusting offering, ‘Aashiq Surrender Hua‘ is true to the charming desi boy image of Varun Dhawan and can qualify in the same league as ‘Manma Emotion Jaage Re‘ (DILWALE), such is its rhythmic tune and really apt and identifiable lyrics (Shabbir Ahmed is in full form). Amaal renders the number superbly with boyish zest which suits Varun, and ‘surili’ Shreya lends class.

Amaal ropes in the indomitable Arijit for a soulful, intense and soothing sad separation number, ‘Roke Na Ruke Naina‘. Lovely Hindustani arrangements (flute, harmonium, sitar and tabla) and lovely back up chorals add to the desi charm. Kumaar deserves applause for some heart moving lyrics.

Musician-singer-composer Akhil Sachdeva, lead vocalist of Delhi based band Nasha, makes his presence felt in Bollywood with a soulful, romantic outing, ‘Humsafar‘. It’s an all- in- one effort by Akhil who impresses with his choice of fresh tune and soft arrangements but his singing (heavy Atif Aslam hangover) which leaves a lot to be desired, especially his poor diction.

The iconic and evergreen ‘nautanki‘ Bhojpuri dance number, the Manna Dey rendered, ‘Chalat Musafir Moh Liyo Re‘ (TEESRI KASAM, Shankar-Jaikishan, Shailendra ) is just the right choice to form the basis of inspiration of a superb holi dance number, which also happens to be the title track, ‘Badri Ki Dulhania‘ . Dev Negi, Neha Kakkar and Monali Thakur render the chartbusting number with just the right nuance and enthusiasm with Ikka chipping in with the rap. Kudos to the composer, Tanishk Bagchi.

The playlist rounds of with ‘Tamma Tamma Again‘, remix version of another chartbusting dance number, ‘Tamma Tamma‘ (Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri along with Anuradha Paudwal). The Ameen Sayani (famous anchor of superhit iconic radio show Binaca Geet Mala) voiceover in the background lends that retro-cum-desi touch. Tanishk Bagchi uses the original vocals of Bappi Da and Anuradha Paudwal and just refurbishes the number with Badshah doing his usual rap.

In a nutshell, the audio of BADRINATH KI DULHANIA is quite a chartbusting effort. Songs like ‘Badri Ki Dulhania‘, ‘Tamma Tamma Again‘ and ‘Aashiq Surrender Hua‘ are our picks. However when compared to the prequel, this one is a shade paler as HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA contained some memorable songs, not just chart scorchers! Well, the songs should surely gain popularity and help the film at the ticket window.
