Bengaluru: A burqa-clad student of Christ Junior College underwent on June 7 humiliating security check at the Karnataka legislative assembly.

The girl and her classmates came to Vidhan Soudha, the assembly house, along with their teachers to witness sessions. The police asked the girl to remove the burqa and undergo security scrutiny that lasted 20 minutes whereas the scrutiny for her companions finished in no time.

The unidentified Muslim girl was in tears when the security staff asked her to remove the burqa, reports twocircles.net.

College principal Carmelite Father Biju K Chacko said someone had taken a video of the police asking the girl to remove the burqa. The priest said the police allowed the girl to enter the assembly gallery only after teachers assured them about the girl’s identity.
