Bauge, France: 78 year old Sister Fabienne, a nun from the commune of Bauge, in western France, dressed in her habit has become an internet sensation after being spotted floating into a polling station on board a hoverboard.

The French Catholic nun looked in total control of her unusual choice of transport as she went to cast her vote in the first round of the country’s legislative elections in June.

The hoverboard belongs to Sr. Fabienne’s friend father Aymeric de Salvert, who gave her a quick lesson. When asked about her mode of transport, she said: “Oh you know, it sounds complicated like that, but now I’m a pro! “You just have to lean forward to go a little faster, and back to brake.”

Sister Fabienne, who is part of the Filles du Coeur de Marie Compatissant au Pied de la Croix (Daughters of the Heart of Compassionate Mary at the Foot of the Cross) religious community, took to the mode of transport mainly popular with younger users.

The hoverboard concept was made famous by the character Marty McFly in the hit Hollywood series, Back to the Future.

“It is the joy of living, being comfortable, relaxed. I still have to pay attention to move because I forget to lean forward, but it is pleasant,” says Sister Fabiene.
