Bhubaneswar: A tenth grader of a government school in Bhubaneswar, Odisha capital, has hit the headlines for her “speed cycle.”
Rojalin Pratihari of the Government High School at VSS Nagar has invented the eco-friendly and cost-effective cycle that can ran at the maximum speed of 40 kilometers.
“The poor persons who cannot afford bikes can easily move around with my bicycles and do their work in a speedy manner. It is cost-effective and does not consume any fuel,” Rojalin claims.
She initially presented her project in the school level science exhibition. She then moved forward by showcasing it in the district, state and national level. Rojalin even notched the seventh position in the national level exhibition.
The ‘cycle’ made by her is little different as she has used two cranks and freewheels instead of one used in normal bi-cycles. It works without consumption of fuel or electrical energy. Moreover, there is a facility of charging up your mobile phones in her speed cycle. Her ‘speed cycles’ would roughly cost around 5,000-to 7,000 rupees, making it within the reach of every strata of people in society, reports ommcomnews.com.
Her accomplishments do not end here. She was a part of the ‘Sakura Science Exchange Programme’ in Japan conducted in the first week of June representing Odisha and even performed the Odissi dance at the closing ceremony.
