Kochi: The Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church has said that no Church-run institution should take money for providing jobs or for admissions to educational courses.

A press release issued on September 2 also said that the Synod also issued instructions to the institutions that wages should be paid to employees of unaided schools in keeping with the directives from the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council.

The statement said that the management of Syro-Malabar Church-run institutions did not accept money for admissions to educational courses as per the directive from the Synod.

However, some complaints had been received in this regard and called on members of the Church as a whole to end the practice, which the Synod denounced as wrong.
