Mumbai: A family here has finally agreed to bury their son, 11 days after he died of cancer in a hospital. The family waited for these many days to inter him in the hope of “resurrection”.

17-year-old Meshach died on October 26.

Meshach’s father Octavio Nevis, instead of preparing for his son’s last rites, started praying, saying Jesus will bring his son back to life.

Nevis is the founder of a religious group which claims to have miraculous healing powers, reported The Times of India.

According to Pravin More, who works as an event manager at the Nagpada Neighborhood House, the headquarters of Nevis’ Jesus For All Nations Ministry, Meshach had ‘died’ two years ago as well.

However, the boy came back to life after his father began performing prayers, More claimed.

This time, the boy’s body was embalmed and placed in the church following his death on October 26. Prayers were held for more than a week.

The church is located opposite the Nagpada police station.

“They would perform prayers during the day and leave the body at Neighbourhood house, lock it and go home,” a police officer said.

When the Nagpada police tried to convince the family to bury their child, they moved the body to a church in Ambernath, located next to a police station, and restarted the prayers.

Upon being alerted, the Ambernath police and municipal health officials visited the church and again tried to convince the family.

The police categorically told the family that the boy’s last rites should be performed or else charges under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 would be pressed against them.

The family then ‘agreed’ and asked the police to allow them to move the body to Nagpada for last rites.

The family has now given it in writing to Nagpada police that they would conduct the last rites.
