Adoor: Archbishop Mathews Mar Coorilos, former Archbishop of Kollam Diocese of Malankara Independent Orthodox Church, has founded a new church which will be known as Pentecostal Orthodox Church.
The Church will have its headquarters at Adoor in Pathanamthitta district. Mathews Mar Coorilos will be the supreme leader and Archbishop of the new church. He is also the founder director of Heavenly Fire Ministry.
The inaugural ceremony held at Adoor, was attended by a number of bishops from different Orthodox and Pentecostal churches in India.
The liturgical rites of the new church is formed by incorporating Pentecostal way of worship, such as healing services, speaking in tongues, praise and worship while retaining the Syrian traditions.
Archbishop Coorilos was previously a priest of Malankara Independent Orthodox Church. He was ordained bishop of the same church by Bishop Mathews Mar Gregorious, but they recently had parted ways following some differences in opinion.
