Sancoale: Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao of Goa and Daman has urged the faithful to follow in the footsteps of St Joseph Vaz.

The Archbishop made this call during his homily at the feast of the Patron Saint of the Archdiocese St Joseph Vaz, on Tuesday, at Old Church of Our Lady of Health ‘Rua Escravo de Maria’ at Sancoale.

Bishop Lumen Monteiro of the Agartala, Bishop Anthony Fernandes Barreto of Sindhudurg , Bishop Derek Fernandes of Karwar, Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, general secretary of Indian Bishop›s Conference were among others, who concelebrated the Mass.

Archbishop Ferrao said that people have four challenges in their life- maintaining brotherhood in society, living a life without any self interest, strengthening communities by sharing love and maintaining peace in the society in which they live.

He urged the faithful to become messengers of peace and a strong community of people to spread love among all and be merciful.

He highlighted that St Joseph Vaz followed in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and during his lifetime, he reached out to poor and downtrodden, reported navhindtimes.

Meanwhile, the traffic cell and the police personnel attached to Verna and Vasco police stations had made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow. Parking and other related arrangements were monitored by Vasco traffic cell PI Roy Pereira.

People from all walks of life attended the masses on the feast day that were held from 5 a.m.
