Kochi: Open Church Movement chairman Reji Njallani has submitted a petition to the chief minister, home secretary and Ernakulam range IG seeking a comprehensive probe into the land deals done by Syro-Malabar Church and its allied institutions in the last 15 years.

Talking to reporters here on February 8, he alleged that auxiliary bishop in Ernakulam – Angamaly archdiocese Sebastian Adayanthrath, Fr. Joshy Puthuva, Archdiocese procurator and Sebastian Vadakkumpadan, vicar-general of Archdiocese,  had trapped Cardinal George Alencherry.

“It is the fight over liturgical differences which resulted in a war-like situation in the Church,” he said.   They are trying to defame the Cardinal to tarnish the image of the Church and to prevent the Cardinal being elevated to Patriarch, he added.

“The Church had suffered huge financial loss in purchasing land for the development of Lissie hospital. The government should immediately intervene in the issue before the situation goes out of control,” said Mr Reji Njallani.
