New Delhi: The ruling issued by Kerala High Court to stay the proceedings against Cardinal
Mar George Alencherry on the controversial land deals of the Ernakulam-Angamaly
archdiocese of Syro- Malabar Church will continue till April 3.

The Supreme Court dismissed the plea requesting to vacate the stay on the HC order which quashed the proceedings in the case.

Considering the plea to quash the High Court order, the Supreme Court declared that they
will not intervene in the case in which the Kerala High Court will hear the case on April 3.

The court also added that the petitioner can appeal in the SC if they are not satisfied with
the High Court verdict.

Meanwhile, the supreme court also observed that serious allegations are raised against the cardinal.

A single bench of Kerala High Court had earlier directed the police to register a FIR against
the Cardinal and three others on the land scam. These proceedings were quashed after a
division bench issued a stay order against it. The court posted the case for further hearing
on April 3.

Two petitioners, namely Shine Varghese and Martin Payyappiilly, moved a plea in the
Supreme Court against quashing the probe against Cardinal.
