New Delhi: Coming soon to cinemas near you is a 1.8-billion rupee, multi-starrer Hindi film celebrating the history and achievements of the RSS, the ideological parent of the ruling BJP.

The script of the film, ThePrint has learnt, has been cleared by none other than RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The film is expected to be released ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, although the people behind the project rule out any link with the elections.

Penned by Bahubali screenwriter K.V. Vijendra Prasad, the script of this film is being prepared in consultation with Bhagwat and Sangh ideologue Gurumurthy.

The work on the project was initiated soon after the release of the blockbuster Bahubali 2, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Prasad’s son.

It is the Kannada cine audio tycoon Lahari Velu Thulasi Naidu, known to be close to the BJP, who came up with the idea of a movie on the RSS soon after the success of Bahubali 2.

“I was traveling from Chennai to Bengaluru after the release of Bahubali 2 when this thought struck me and soon I called my manager to block two titles for the movie,” said Velu, one of the producers of the film.

“Two titles — RSS Bhagwa Dhwaj and RSS have been registered,” added Velu.

Velu said he and Prasad had met Gurumurthy, who has been helping them in preparing the script.

The duo also met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and made a detailed presentation of the proposal. Bhagwat also gave them several books on the RSS to ensure that the script is well researched and factually correct.

Prasad, along with his team of 27 people, is working on the project although the director is yet to be finalised.

The team has met Bhagwat three times so far and the final script was narrated to the RSS chief two months ago. “He was happy,” said Velu.

Sources said that the RSS was keen on the project as it believes that the film would go a long way in clearing doubts about the RSS’ ideology and its functioning.

The team has sought the help of media baron Subhash Chandra of Zee group, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, and Raj Singh of Motion Pictures for promotion and distribution of the film, a source said.

Velu said the film will have the best star cast although no one has been named so far. Besides Hindi, the film will be released in Telugu as well.
