Bhubaneswar: The Odia translation of the book “Who Killed Laxmanananda?” was released on Sept 19 by the illiterate wives of seven people languishing in jail for allegedly killing the Hindu religious leader.

Goldman prize laureate Prafulla Samantara, human rights activists Dhirendra Panda and Narendra Mohanty of the Campaign Against Fabricated Cases joined the women at the release of the book by senior journalist Anto Akkara at the Odisha capital of Bhubaneswar.

More than 50 journalists attended the function.

The book exposes Kandhamal fraud and travesty of justice with seven innocents languishing in jail. It exposes Hindu radical groups’ role in Kandhamal fraud and questions why seven innocent convicts are languishing in jail for ten years.

Akkara made a multi-media presentation to show how the nation was fooled by a conspiracy behind the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in the Janmashtami night in 2008. It also explains why seven Christians – six illiterates including one mentally challenged – are in jail after being fraudulently convicted to life imprisonment.

After the release the author answered questions from the media.

The book brings to the fore the plight of seven prisoner.
