New Delhi: A teenage girl from Assam took on US President Donald Trump for his tweet mocking global warming. On November 21, when temperatures dropped to -2 degrees Celsius in Washington, Donald Trump took to Twitter and said, “Brutal and Extended Cold Blast could shatter ALL RECORDS Whatever happened to Global Warming?”

In response to the tweet by the US President, Astha Sarmah from Assam’s Jorhat said, “I am 54 years younger than you. “I just finished high school with average marks. But even I can tell you that WEATHER IS NOT CLIMATE. If you want help understanding that, I can lend you my encyclopedia from when I was in 2nd grade. It has pictures and everything.”

Twitterati went berserk over Astha’s comment, which was as Tuesday evening was liked by 22000 people and had received 5200 retweets. While many congratulated Astha for her comment, some even responded with memes and thanking Astha for ‘simplifying’ science for the US President. “You have explained something in simple words, and your counterpart understands only simple words, I hope at least,” said one Twitter user.

“Astha, I highly doubt that Trump has ever had the inclination to possess or even open an encyclopedia in his whole life, let alone read it,” said another. “I hope trump will start reading the encyclopedia. He needs to understand the difference between weather and climate,” said one of the users. Many also offered her an internship to study the effects of climate change on the Arabian Sea.
