New Delhi< Nov. 28, 2018: A group of Christian colleges receiving government aid met in New Delhi November 28 for a one day consultation and training on Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
Eight colleges receiving the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan () grant from across the country gathered at All India Association of Christian Higher Education (AIACHE) House at Janakpuri New Delhi
RUSA is the federal government’s contribution to further the promise held by the rich expanse of India’s state universities.
The key objectives of RUSA are to improve access, equity and quality in higher education through planned development of higher education at the state level.
(PFMS) is a platform for e-payment of subsidy under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to both Aadhar based & Non- Aadhar based bank accounts through NPCI.
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is an umbrella organization for all retail payments in India. It was set up with the guidance and support of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Indian Banks Association (IBA).
Chief Accountant at the PFMS, New Delhi headquarters, Francis spoke on the procedures of registration and Expenditure, Advance and Transfer (EAT) module of PFMS.
In the afternoon, the colleges, each consisting of two to five member teams, shared their experiences of working toward attaining quality and retaining the quality in and through the rubrics of UGC (University Grants Commission) and government monitoring systems.
These colleges, being associated with the 53-year-old AIACHE, the ecumenical organization of over 350 Christian member colleges and being lead players among them, have decided to network among themselves, share their expertise on a portal by way of FAQs and suggestions and by entering into MoUs with one another and others for the betterment of higher education in the country.
Mark Pixley and Glenn Shive, resource persons, and principal of Salesian College Sonada and Siliguri Salesian Father George Thadathil, the AIACHE president, guided the afternoon sessions and helped arrive at an action plan for the year ahead. Dr. Glenn Shive has been Director and CEO of the Hong Kong America Center since 2000. The Center is a non-profit consortium of universities in Hong. Shive was also a Fulbright scholar at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
