Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 28, 2019: One more witness has turned hostile in the sensational Sister Abhaya murder case. Fourth witness Sanju P. Mathew changed his stance in the court on Aug. 27.

Sanju had earlier told the investigation team that he had seen the scooter of Father Thomas Kottoor, the key accused in the case, under suspicious circumstances. He told the court that he did not know the type of the scooter. With this, the court declared Sanju a hostile witness.

The 50th witness Sister Anupama had already turned hostile during the first day of the trial on August 26.

Sister Anupama was staying with Sister Abhaya in the same convent. She changed her previous statement that she had seen Sister Abhaya’s footwear and headdress in the convent kitchen.

Following this, the court had declared Sister Anupama as hostile witness. The trial against the first accused Father Kottoor and the third accused Sister Sephy is proceeding in the CBI Special Court in Thiruvananthapuram.

There are a total of 177 witnesses in the case.
