Manila, Oct. 30, 2019: The social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila launched the appeal October 29, on the day a strong tremor hit Cotabato.

“We are knocking to your generous hearts to help our brothers and sisters in Cotabato,” Father Anton Pascual, Caritas Manila executive director, said in a statement.

“The donations will be used for the relief and rehabilitation needs of our kababayans in Cotabato and nearby areas in Mindanao,” he added.

Pascual said immediate needs include clean water, food, clothes, and hygiene items.

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle had also earlier asked the public to help the quake victims.

He also appealed for prayers for the victims.

At least nine people were killed after a 6.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Mindanao.

The casualties were recorded in separate locations following the powerful earthquake that struck off Tulunan town in Cotabato.
