Hyderabad, October 15, 2019: A Catholic dentist from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh credits his faith with his success.

“My faith has impacted my life. It is the base for all my work and life. I am always proud to say that I am a Catholic doctor in any platform,” Srikanth Embeti, 28, told Matters India.

He is among ten winners of the National Young Achievers Awards 2019 to be honored on October 17 at Hyderabad, during the on-going Indian Catholic Youth Movement – National Youth Conference organized by Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India – Youth Office. The five day youth event ends on October 17.

“I value my Catholic faith more than treasures in this world because I am blessed with numerous talents and opportunities. I have traveled to so many places, states and countries. I have my identity as a Catholic young doctor,” Embeti said.

He is a member of the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI), a premier healthcare organization in India founded by Sister Mary Glowrey, an Australian doctor in 1943.

“During my younger age, I served as an altar boy for Mass in St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Nellore diocese. I am regular to the church; attend all the activities and programs done by church,” he said.

Earlier Embeti was a member of National Youth Volunteer at Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

He also volunteered at Communauté de Taizé, France. It is an ecumenical Christian monastic fraternity.

He works at Rotary Club-Nellore District 3160 and zonal president South at International Association of Dental Students.

He graduated in Bachelors of Dental Surgery and Masters from Narayana Dental College and Hospital, Nellore and works there.

He finished his elementary school at St. Joseph’s English Medium School, Nellore and St. Arnolds High School, Mederamittla, Prakasam district and intermediate at Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Nellore.

He has an older brother and a sister. His father works in the construction sector and mother is a homemaker.

Upon getting the news that he is one of the ten persons to receive the “National Young Achievers Awards 2019″, he said, “I am happy and motivated to go forward in my effort to serve society as a Catholic Dentist.

“It makes me feel energetic and confident. I am humbled to receive it and become an inspirational youth to my fellow youth and work for our Catholic youth and society,” he said.

Embeti was selected for the award for the great works and deeds he has rendered his medical service to the poor and needy by conducting so many camps.

He is also a national volunteer in the Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Embeti has received many national and international awards and has traveled to Europe.

The other nine winners are Nirman Ouseppachan (IAS officer, Alleppey, Kerala), Sudhir R (India’s first flute-boxer, Bangalore, Karnataka), Ruben Mascarenhas (national joint secretary at Aam Aadmi Party, Bombay), Murphy R. John (founder ROPIO Foundation, Delhi), Alman Happy (founder of SMTHHH Society, Jalandhar, Punjab), Rohan Lewis (postal officer, member government project, Mangalore), Dibya P. Dev (government officer and founder of Anjappam, Neyyattinkara, Kerala), Sunil Rao (national wheel-chair cricketer, Raipur, Chhattisgarh), and Silverious Kharmunuid (general secretary of village panchayat, Shillong, Meghalaya).
