New Delhi, November 7, 2019: While the country waits for the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya land dispute, civil society groups and people of goodwill are creating awareness to maintain peace in the country.
On November 6, Sajha Sanskriti Manch (Shared Culture Forum) in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh held a peaceful march around the city, said Father Anand Mathew, social worker.
The apex court is likely to deliver its verdict on the Ayodhya issue before Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi retires on November 17.
The verdict on Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi – Babri Masjid dispute will be announced soon. Whatever be the verdict, the country needs to promote peace. With an appeal for peace between Hindu and Muslim communities, a solidarity campaign is being carried out by Shared Culture Forum in Varanasi city from 5 to 16 Nov, distributing pamphlets, exhibiting posters and placards, said Father Mathew, human rights activist.
On this sensitive issue related to the public, no rumor in the city could be spread. Violence is not a matter of fights. All need to live in peace. The public is invited to walk in streets with an appeal of peace and harmony, said Syed Sajid Ali, a member of Shared Culture Forum.
Shared Culture Forum is urging to different communities to remain calm and cautious of those who could trigger controversies and disturb the fabric of unity.
The five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Gogoi on October 16 reserved its judgment, after a marathon 40-day hearing. The apex court was hearing the case from August 6 this year on a day-to-day basis after the mediation failed.
The Allahabad High Court had ordered division of the 2.77 acres of the disputed land at Ayodhya into three equal parts between Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara.
