Dibrugarh, July 22, 2020: Another senior nun has died of Covid-19 in the northeastern Indian state of Assam.
Sister Florence Kurisinkal died at 11.30 am on July 21 at Guwahati Medical College (Covid Hospital). She was 73.
Sister Kurisinkal belongs to the North East India province of the Institute of the Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa (SCCG), also known as the Sisters of Maria Bambina.
“Let us continue to keep her in our prayers. May her soul rest in peace,” said Sister Mary Ponthempally, provincial superior, informing about the death of Sister Kurisinkal.
She was born on October 5, 1946, and pronounced her religious vows on March 18, 1970.
Sister Kurisinkal is the second nun to die of COVID-19 from the same congregation.
Sister Michael Serrao died on July 16 at St. Joseph’s Convent, Dibrugarh, Assam. She was 82.
She was discharged from the hospital after testing negative for Covid-19.
