Tirunnelveli: Three construction workers died and 14 were injured after an under-construction church collapsed in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunnelveli district Wednesday night.
Police, fire and safety officials suspect that inadequate scaffolding could have caused the accident. No arrests have been made so far.
The Church of South India was building the three-story church at Xavier Nagar, near Yedyur lake.
According to the police, the incident took place around 1:30 p.m. while the laborers were working at the site.
The Jayanagar police have registered a case under 288 of Indian Penal Code (Negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings) against the owner and the contractor.
