Bhubaneswar: The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) plans to create a data bank for the Catholic Church in India.
The bishops’ conference executive known as the Standing Committee has endorsed the proposal at it recent meeting, says communication from the CBCI headquarters in New Delhi.
The data bank for the Catholic Church in India will cover families, parishes, institutions, organizations, priests, religious, laity (professional categories), said the statement signed by CBCI secretary general Archbishop Albert D’Souza of Agra.
The bishops’ conference has entrusted the task to a team headed by Fr. Paul Moonjely, CBCI Core Team Member and assistant executive director of Caritas India.
The Ernakulam archdiocesan priest and his team are now seeking opinions and suggestions before launching the project, the Catholic Data Application System.
The Standing Committee held its meeting at St. John’s Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore, from September 23-25.
