Jalukbari – Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), an organisation under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, has come up with an initiative for carrying out a number of stipendiary training programmes under different skill trades for unemployed youths belonging to the other backward classes (OBCs) of the north-eastern region. These are ongoing training programmes.
The training programmes are sponsored by the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC). Assam, Tripura and Manipur being OBC-dominated states, have been identified by the city-based IIE for implementation of this project in the coming two months.
The IIE has targeted a total of 800 trainees in the first phase under the double poverty line for these training programmes, reported Assam Tribune.
The objective of these programmes is to promote economic and developmental activities for the benefit of backward classes and also to support the poorer section of this class in skill development and self-employment ventures.
These skill development programmes on floriculture and nursery management, food processing, bee- keeping, cosmetology and beautician, cane and bamboo works, house wiring cum electrician for the states of Assam, Tripura and Manipur have been effectively going on from January 11.
It may be mentioned that the IIE and NBCFDC had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement programmes of the NBCFDC in the north-eastern region during the visit of the Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of NBCFDC.
