Chennai: The Dalit Christian Liberation Movement (DCLM), which has been campaigning for Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Christians in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, has announced its support for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the forthcoming assembly election.
In a statement on Thursday, DCLM said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had shown concern about the plight of Dalit Christians and had written a letter in 1995 to the PM recommending SC status to Dalit Christians, The Hindu reported.
“Her party has also given 9 tickets to Christians in the forthcoming elections. The AIADMK had also raised the issue of Dalit Christians in Rajya Sabha,” the statement read.
