Tura: A meeting to review the situation of troubled Garo Hills of Meghalaya has called for joint and concerted efforts to bring peace and development in the region.
The May 9-10 meeting was held at the Garo Baptist Convention Headquarters in Tura under the aegis of Joint Peace Mission Team representing all Churches of North East India.
It was organized to discuss the present situation in Garo Hills and to encourage civil societies as well as the government to take initiatives to address the issue.
During the meeting members of the Churches appealed to all to come together to work in a united way for the betterment of individual communities and the common growth of the people of the region.
They also appealed to people of all ideologies, parties, convictions and religious traditions to help in the great cause of peace, development and well being of all communities.
Catholic Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil and Reverend Soloman Rongpi, general secretary of the Council of Baptist Churches chaired the meeting.
