Dimapur: The apex body of all tribal communities of Nagaland has reaffirmed its decision against women taking policy-making roles, specifically the 33 percent reservation
The Naga Hoho has, however, offered a vague concession: “Empowerment of women by creating various opportunities to women by all the stakeholders.”
The Naga Hoho issued a note on Wednesday informing about a consultative meeting with presidents of “Nagaland based Naga Hoho constituents.” The meeting held at Hotel Japfu in Kohima on May 18 addressed a number of resolutions, reports easternmirrornagaland.com.
“The meeting reaffirmed the 4th federal assembly resolution no. 4 of the Naga Hoho held on (August 24, 2011) which observed introduction of 33 percent reservation for women in the Municipal Bodies as premature and would rather advocate for empowerment of women by creating various opportunities to women by all the stakeholders.”
“The meeting endorses the executive council to have a joint sitting with the ENPO in connection with the 33 percent Women Reservation in municipal bodies for better coordination and understanding.”
