Three foreigners, including a captain of a ship and two of his associates, have been taken into official custody by the Coast Guard Police for using satellite phones at Dhamra Coast in Odisha on Thursday.

According to the sources, the Coast Guard officials arrested one Australian and two Philippines for using satellite phones on their way to Dhamra port and were later handed over to marine police.

The three foreign nationals were detained for their alleged suspicious activities for deporting 10 Chinese nationals who were working at Dhamra Port Company Limited.

Marine Police has started interrogating them and seized their visa, passport and satellite phone.

As per the order of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the state government had slapped ‘Leave-India’ notice on the said Chinese nationals.
