Tumakuru: Even 36 hours after Tomlinson Church here was vandalised, the police are yet to make a breakthrough. The cops had set a 48-hour deadline to arrest the miscreants. “I am not sure whether the police will succeed in tracing the suspect in the 48-hour deadline,” remarked Samuel Pujary, chairman of the Church of South India (CSI), who staged a hunger strike along with over 300 people on Friday.

On Monday, a huge rally will be taken out as people from all the churches across the state are expected to arrive, he said, adding that the schools and colleges run by the CSI churches will be shut down for a day.

Former minister Sogadu Shivanna blamed it on lack of professionalism in the Police Department. In fact, the timing of the recent transfers of the officers has also seemingly contributed to the delay in cracking the case. Meanwhile, the important Tilak Park Circle has no inspector as the one who was posted there a couple of weeks ago had not taken charge, Indian Express reported.

Under immense pressure on the home turf of Home Minister G Parameshwara, SP Karthik Reddy is pulling out all stops to nab the culprits. He held a meeting of officers to chalk out a plan to trace the suspect as the CCTV footage was blurry, a source said.
