Kochi: Sister Jiya is creating history as the first Catholic nun in India to write the script and dialogue for a full length movie.
“Ente vella thooval” (my white feather) is the title of the Malayalam movie now under production in Kerala, southern India.
Cardinal George Alencherry, head of the Syro-Malabar Church, released the film’s music DVD in Kochi on July 8. Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Pulickal of Kanjirapally received the first copy at a function held at St Thomas Mount in Kakkanad, the Church’s headquarters.
Sister Jiya is a member of the Medical Sisters of St Joseph. She is currently serving as a lab technician at St Sebastian’s Hospital in Cherupuzha, a village in Kannur district of Kerala. She has already published a collection of poems titled, “Eesokku oru pookkuda” (A bouquet for Jesus), reports Hridaya Vayal, a Malayalam religious news portal.
The film’s direction is Jibin Francis, a new comer.
