Pulling of the chariot during the Bahuda Yatra festival of Lord Jagannath in Uditnagar area of Odisha’s Steel City was held up for some time as members of a minority community staged a roadblock demanding the arrest of a person accused of posting abusive remarks on minorities in social media.
Tension prevailed in the area following the incident, however, the situation was diffused after the accused person was arrested by the police and pulling of chariot resumed, reports added.
Similarly, pulling of chariot of Lord Jagannath was disrupted for some time in Remuna in Balasore district as BJP workers blocked the main road following recovery of some objectionable material from the chariot, reports said.
However, normalcy was restored and pulling of chariot began following intervention of the police which persuaded the protestors to vacate the blockade, the report added.
