Yogyakarta – A Darjeeling girl attended the first ever Asian Community Radio Workshop organized at Yogyakarta Indonesia, August 1-6.
Miss Sumina Chettri from Darjeeling was one of 20 participants representing 10 Asian countries in the program organized by the Asian chapter of the World Catholic Communications body Signis Asia.
Miss Chettri Lecturer at the Sociology Department of Salesian College Sonada represented the first private College in Bengal to launch a Community Radio.
“I am extremely privileged to be among Asian delegates to get this opportunity,” says Miss Chettri who returned today after her first trip outside India.
The 5-day training program was organized at Wisma Studio Audio Visual Puskat, Sinduharjo, Yogyakarta –Indonesia.
“Miss Chettri though arrived late after changing four flights (Bagdogra-Kolkata-Kualalumpur-Jakarta-Yogyakarta) attended the workshop very well,” wrote program coordinator Ms Bernadeta Widiandayani reporting to Station Director of Radio Salesian 90.8 FM.
Topics discussed during the workshop included sharing on Radio Program Successes and Challenges; web radio and digital environment (podcasting); radio production promoting life values; and designing a strategy and sustainability of radio program.
