New Delhi: Around 20 musicians from India and Pakistan launched a campaign to celebrate independence of the Indian subcontinent together.
One Independence is a campaign by En Route Thursdays in association with WittyFeed.com that helped musicians from India and Pakistan to collaborate and produce a series of songs.
Their first son, cover of “Imagine” by a famous singer songwriter and musician John Lennon, on various social networking websites on August 13.
Musicians, composers, audio video production professionals from the two neighboring countries worked together for the past three months to produce the songs.
“How long will we play this game of independence day?” asks Yasir Ahmed from Karachi Pakistan. “Why don’t we celebrate independence this year together,” he pleads.
India celebrates Independence Day on August 15, while Pakistan does it a day earlier.
Parveen Singhal from WittyFeed – “We fought for our independence together, then why do we celebrate is separately? It doesn’t make any sense.”
Rohail Ahmed from Islamabad Pakistan says –“We belong to the same race, same culture, same land divided by man-made boundaries. It is high time we kept are differences away and come together and celebrate.”
Laksh Maheshwari, and Indian and co-founder En Route Thursdays, says the idea came up in discussion while composing a song last year. “When we released the song on digital platforms, we received some appreciative messages from friends across the border. That is when we thought why not work on some songs together.”
Laksh along with his friends Ashish Kavi and Ritu Prakash started “En Route Thursdays” two years ago. It is a Delhi-based artist development group involving more than 1,000 artists and with units in National Capital Region, Indore and Pune.
“We are extremely grateful to WittyFeed that liked the concept and supported us in developing this campaign. We hope this small initiative brings some joy to viewers from both these countries”, said Ashish Kavi.
Wittyfeed is the world’s second largest viral content company based in Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, central India.
