Pop star Dua Lipa, 21, will perform before the Albanian public in Tirana’s Mother Teresa Square on August 10, a day after performing in her Kosovo hometown Pristina.
“I’m so excited to announce I’ll be adding another date while I’m in the motherland Pristina/Kosovo and also heading down to Tirana/Albania on the 10th of August for a show!! I’m ready so I hope you are too!,” Lipa wrote on her official Instagram account.
Apart from singing in Pristina for the first time in her career before some 20,000 people, Lipa used the occasion to launch her Sunny Hill Foundation, a charity she set up earlier this year to help society in Kosovo in various aspects, especially the arts and culture.
Money earned from sold tickets has gone directly to the newly-established charity.
Dua Lipa, who has risen quickly to stardom worldwide, recently released her “Hotter than hell” single, which follows previous releases “New Love,” “Be the One” and “Last Dance.”
She was born in London, England, in August 1995, shortly after her parents left their hometown of Pristina. She attended a specialist performing arts school, the Sylvia Young Theatre School, before moving back to Kosovo with her family in 2008.
At 16, she moved back once again to London, dreaming of becoming a singer. She became famous by posting covers of her favourite songs by Christina Aguilera and Nelly Furtado on YouTube.
However, Lipa is not the only singer in her family – her father is Kosovo rock singer Dukagjin, who joined her on stage at Germia Park in Pristina.
Lipa is also not the only Kosovo singer making it big on the international music scene. She joins Era Istrefi and Rita Ora, who was also raised in the UK.
